Well-placed, well-designed banner advertisements can be an integral part of an effective outsourcing marketing strategy. The secret is setting clear, single-focused objectives and having systems in place to measure the results. Banner advertisements can:
  • Drive Traffic. A banner on an industry-specific site or other high-volume, focused site can drive traffic to your own web site to generate leads for follow up.
  • Increase Brand Awareness. Studies conducted by for the Internet Advertising Bureau indicate that brand awareness increased an average of 5% from the use of banners. That means project owners knowing who you are when they see your bid.
  • Announce News. To call attention to new developments or to feature high profile issues, banners can be a cost effective means to reach large numbers of people quickly.   • Use cryptic messages. These can increase click-through up to 18%. People may be intrigued to find out what the banner is about when the advertiser is not revealed. However, bear in mind that, in such cases, branding is forfeited in exchange for curiosity.
Design
Bright Colours can attract attention. Some studies have found that blue, green and yellow are more effective than white, red, and black. This may depend on your target and your product/service. Animation will also attract attention. It has been shown that movement can increase response rates by 25%

Routine Refreshment
Click-through rates will drop off after a certain point. Where that point is depends on your market and your message.
